The 10 Best Baby Shower Games for a Fun & Memorable Celebration

If you’re organising a baby shower, you’ll want to make it a light-hearted and memorable occasion for everyone. Planning a selection of games helps to break the ice and create a fun and inclusive atmosphere.

Here’s our list of the top 10 most popular baby shower games (with a few hidden gems thrown in), perfect for indoor gatherings, plus a couple that shine outdoors if the weather behaves! We’ve selected a mix of icebreakers, puzzles, creative and competitive team games.

1.  Guess the Baby Photo

You’ll need: A string line (or washing line) and pegs OR a magnetic board and magnets.

Ask each guest to bring a photo of themselves as a baby. (These can be displayed on the string line or the magnetic board). Everyone must guess who’s who!

It’s a brilliant conversation starter and full of giggles.

Tip: Give a small prize for the best guesser!

Baby Shower Game with nappies and melted chocolate

2. Dirty Nappy Game

You’ll need: A selection of chocolate bars and nappies.

A cheeky classic! Melt different chocolate bars (Mars, Dairy Milk, etc.) into nappies and have guests guess which bar it is, just by smell or sight.

Gross? Yes. Hilarious? Definitely!

Tip: Choose distinctive flavours like mint or caramel for an extra challenge.

3. The Baby Word Scramble

You’ll Need: Pen/pencil and paper for each person/team, plus a ready-made list of baby-related anagrams (like telart = rattle, ltebto = bottle, delcar = cradle).

This doesn’t need to be costly as the scrambled word lists are easy to create yourself.  Guests race individually or in small teams to unscramble the anagrams and write down as many correct words as possible within a time limit (an egg-timer is a good way to set the time).

It’s a simple game that’s easy to set up and great for mixed-age groups. Winner has the most correct names written down.

Fun fact: Word puzzles like this became popular in Victorian parlours, giving this game a traditional British theme!

4. Baby Shower Bingo

You’ll need: A pre-printed/written bingo card and pen/pencil for everyone.

Give each guest a bingo card filled with common baby shower phrases or gifts (“nappy cream”, “rattle”, “it’s a boy!”). Mark them off as the event unfolds.

A relaxed game that runs in the background and keeps everyone engaged. The winner receives a small prize!

5. Baby Bottle Challenge

You’ll need: Baby bottles and soft drinks.

Fill baby bottles with soft drinks and see who can finish theirs first. It’s much harder than it looks, and even funnier to watch!

A great game that brings instant laughs.

Baby shower Game with a selection of Baby foods to guess

6. Guess the Baby Food

You’ll Need: A selection of different types of baby foods and spoons plus pens and paper/cards.

The baby food can be presented any way you like. Guests will taste a spoonful and guess what it is! This can be done blindfolded for extra fun. Players must write down their guess after each taste on a card.

The winner is the person /team who correctly guesses the most answers.

7. Who Said What?

This is a great one if you are helping to organise the shower for someone else and both parents-to-be will be there.

Before the shower, ask the parents-to-be a few fun questions about scenarios for after the baby is born (e.g. What’s the first thing you’ll do once the baby’s asleep? or Who is the most likely to put the baby's clothes on backwards?).

At the party, read their answers aloud. Guests guess which parent said which!

This game always leads to funny insights into the couple’s personalities.

8. Nappy Relay Race

You’ll Need: A selection of teddies/dolls, nappies plus blindfolds and any other props/clothing.

Teams compete to change a doll’s nappy as fast as possible, blindfolded, or with oven mitts on for extra laughs! This can be done indoors or outdoors.

A variation on this is a team relay ‘Dress the Teddy/doll’ race where each team member must put a different item of clothing onto teddy until fully dressed. Again, this can be done blindfolded. The winning team is the first to dress the teddy fully!

9. Name That Nursery Rhyme

You’ll Need: A selection of nursery rhymes, written or recorded.

Play a few seconds of well-known nursery rhymes or read a line aloud (from the middle so it's not too easy) and have guests shout out the answer.

Quick, fun, and surprisingly competitive!

A white babygro and coloured pens to decorate at a baby shower party

10. Design-a-Baby-Gro

You’ll Need: Plain white babygros and decorative crafting items such as fabric pens or paint that’s safe for babies, stencils, iron or sew-on patches.

Give each guest a plain white babygro and let them decorate it as they choose! Ensure you do not use anything that could be a potential choking hazard.

Parents end up with a collection of
one-of-a-kind keepsakes, and it’s a calm, inclusive activity that everyone can enjoy.

An alternative creative game would be to provide biscuits and coloured icing. Guests can design their own baby-themed biscuits and take them home!

Baby Shower predictions and advice cards on a table

Bonus Game: Baby Predictions & Advice Cards

Provide cards for guests to predict baby’s birth date, weight, and eye colour, plus a line for advice to the new parents.

You can pop these into a keepsake box and they’ll be lovely to look back on later.

Hosting Tips

Mix up the styles: Start with icebreakers, add one or two silly games mid-party, and end with a sentimental or creative one.

Prizes: Offer small gifts like chocolates, a scented candle, handcream, notepad and pen.

Keep it inclusive: Choose games that don’t rely on physical ability or parental experience so everyone can join in.

Whether you’re hosting in a cosy living room or a sunny back garden, baby shower games bring people together with guaranteed laughter. Add some thoughtful touches like matching or themed decorations and you’ll have a truly special celebration for the parents-to-be.
